Maduro Can’t Be Appeased

Regarding your editorial “Venezuela Breaks a Promise to Biden” (Nov. 2): Even I could see that sanctions relief to Venezuela wouldn’t result in a free and fair 2024 election. It took only two weeks for Nicolás Maduro to violate the agreement. The relief was clear proof that the Biden administration simply wants to appease his communist narco-trafficking government. The Biden administration will probably fail to reimpose sanctions, just as it has with other enemies it has failed to appease.
