Trump Files New Arguments for Dismissal of Election-Interference Charges

WASHINGTON—Donald Trump’s lawyers stepped up their challenges to federal charges that the former president conspired to overturn his 2020 election loss, arguing in a flurry of late-night court filings that the indictment violates his free-speech rights and targets him because he is President Biden’s chief rival for the White House in 2024.

The long-shot legal motions represent Trump’s latest effort to have dismissed his federal election-interference prosecution and add to a mounting pile of requests under consideration by U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, who has indicated she has a low tolerance for politics in her courtroom.
