Cuomo Unveils Homemade Mountain to Show New York State’s Virus Trajectory

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is calling on US President Donald Trump to issue an executive order making wearing masks mandatory nationwide.

Cuomo made the remarks during his daily briefing in New York on Monday, as the number of coronavirus cases in states across the country continue to rise.

Florida, for instance, had a huge spike over the weekend, with the number of new cases reaching close to 18,000.

“We did it two months ago in this state. The other states are just starting to do it now. States that were recalcitrant…Now they’re doing a 180 and you have the same states now wearing masks,” Cuomo said.

“Let the president have the same sense to do that as an executive order and then let the president lead by example and let the president put a mask on it,” he added.

The governor also unveiled a sculpture of a mountain during his briefing he says he built inside his garage. The sculpture is supposed to show “the trajectory of COVID in our state,” the governor said.

“We don’t want to climb this mountain again,” Cuomo warned.

The governor said state and city officials are reconsidering relaxing regulations on allowing indoor dinning in New York City. He said a decision would be made on Wednesday.

Additionally, the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards will still go ahead despite the coronavirus pandemic.

Cuomo said the show will take place August 30 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

An MTV spokesperson confirmed the news to The Associated Press on Monday.
