Brookfield Zoo Prepares to Reopen After Coronavirus Shutdown

Brookfield Zoo was set to reopen on Wednesday, July 1, following a shutdown of more than three months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Footage taken by the zoo shows 3-month-old Amur leopard cub Sasha, who was born on March 3 and introduced to the public via social media during the lockdown.

The Amur leopard is a critically endangered species with less than 65 animals left in the wild, the zoo said. Threats to the species include poaching, loss of habitat due to logging and human settlement, and loss of prey.

Brookfield Zoo reopens to members on July 1 and to the general public on July 8. ( via @Storyful News)
