WHO Officials Wish Brazil President Jair Bolsonaro a ‘Speedy Recovery’ from Coronavirus

Top World Health Organization officials wished Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro a speedy recovery on Tuesday after he announced that he had contracted COVID-19.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said he hoped Bolsonaro’s case would be mild and that he would be back at work soon.

The organization’s emergencies chief Dr. Michael Ryan said the news that Bolsonaro had the illness brought home the reality of the virus.

“The virus doesn’t really know who we are, whether prince or pauper,” he commented.

Bolsonaro has repeated downplayed the seriousness of the virus.
