Flights Return To Nigerian Skies After 3 Months As Covid-19 Restrictions Ease

Nigeria has resumed domestic flights between Lagos and the capital Abuja, following changes to the country’s coronavirus restrictions.

On Thursday, passengers were seen boarding flights at the Murtala Muhammed local airport in Lagos.

Emmanuel Idayi, a passenger traveling on Arik Airline, said he was glad to be going back home after getting stuck in Lagos due to the travel restrictions.

Lagos airport is one of the country’s major travel hubs connecting flights from across the globe and passengers trying to connect to other parts of the country. Passengers there said they were confident about the precautionary measures put in place at the airports to guard against the spread of the virus.

Nigeria has over 30,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19 and 689 deaths as of Friday July 10, according to Johns Hopkins University.
