Heavy Monsoons Soak Parts of China, Japan and Nepal

A downpour hit Wuyishan City of east China’s Fujian Province early Thursday morning, causing flood and trapping hundreds of residents.

Soon after being deployed by the local authorities, rescue workers located a family of four trapped in a house by a wood processing factory. The rescue was made challenging as one of the family members was a newborn 7 days old baby, while the mother also needed additional help having just had a Cesarean section a week ago.

The rescuers were able to bring all four family members to safety by using materials from the nearby factory to make a temporary stretcher to carry the mother out of the house, while one of them held and pacified the crying baby.

On the same day, rescue workers also saved a five-year-old boy and his family who was stranded in the middle of a flooding street.

The rescue workers set up a rope bridge for the family to get to safety while one of them carried the young boy in his arm.

As of Thursday, a total of 171 residents became trapped by the flood, while another 523 residents were put at risk. They have all been evacuated to safe places.
