Portland Mayor Blasts Trump Over Federal Arrests: ‘An Attack on Our Democracy’

US federal agents in green camouflage uniforms have been taking into custody people protesting in Portland.

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler called it “an attack on our democracy.”

He said US President Donald Trump was using the federal agents to further his political agenda and ignite his base.

Oregon Public Broadcasting reported that federal officers had charged at least 13 people with crimes related to the protests.

Portland police said Friday they arrested 20 people overnight after protesters tore down fences and blocked traffic.
