Businesses Buy Smile-Friendly Surgical Face Masks During Covid-19

An Italian fashion company has created smile-friendly surgical face masks amid the coronavirus pandemic. Dienpi is turning the item once made for the deaf and mute into one desired by Italian business owners coming out of months of lockdown.

The masks are made in Italy and assembles by hand. They are meant to “ease communication” by making facial expressions visible, says the CEO and founder Doriana Marini.

Marini beta-tested the masks with small businesses in her hometown of San Benedetto del Tronto. Now orders have already reached 15,000. Th masks were snapped up by small businesses, who after months of shutdown want to greet their customers with a smile.
