George Floyd Protestors Stand Off Against NYPD in Union Square Park






ocal reports said more than 20 protesters were arrested on Thursday, May 28, during a protest in New York’s Union Square over the death of George Floyd, who was killed by police during an arrest in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on May 25.

The protests were sparked by a video which circulated on social media on Tuesday showing a Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin pinning Floyd to the ground with his knee on Floyd’s neck. Floyd plead for help before going still and was later pronounced dead.

An outbreak of violent protests took over Minneapolis and St Paul on May 27 and 28.

Videos filmed in Union Square show the tense moments between protesters and police. Police officers were at one point using their bicycles as shields, the video shows.
