Kushner Says Trump Has ‘Tremendous Respect’ for the Military

Two top advisers to President Donald Trump vigorously defended the US commander in chief Friday after the publication of an article in The Atlantic alleging that he mocked American war dead.

“That does not represent the way that I’ve seen the president conduct himself,” said Trump senior adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner in the White House press briefing room.

“I thought it was it was pretty disappointing that some magazine would write that,” said National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien.

The allegations, sourced anonymously in The Atlantic, describe multiple offensive comments by the president toward fallen U.S. service-members, including calling World War I dead at an American military cemetery in France “losers” and “suckers” in 2018.

The reported comments are shining a fresh light on Trump’s previous public disparaging of American troops and military families.
