Smoke Dust Devil Rages as Firefighters Battle El Dorado Fire

A fast-spinning smoke dust devil developed as the Newport Beach Fire Department battled the El Dorado Fire in Yucaipa, California.

Footage uploaded to Instagram shows the rapidly spinning formation kicking up smoke and dust.

The Newport Beach Fire Department wrote the firefighters “have been on the line for several days now, battling variant wind conditions, elevated temperatures, and unsettling air conditions.”

The CAL San Bernardino Unit reported the fire was sparked by a smoke generating pyrotechnic device used at a gender reveal party.

As of the morning of September 8, the El Dorado Fire had reached 10,574 acres and was 16 percent contained.
