Netanyahu Returns to Israel After Signing Landmark Pacts With Arab Countries

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu returned to Israel on Wednesday after signing landmark normalization agreements with the UAE and Bahrain in Washington.

Netanyahu and his wife were greeted by supporters at the country’s Ben-Gurion International Airport.

After the celebration signing ceremony, Netanyahu returns to face the raging coronavirus pandemic and a three-week lockdown set to begin on Friday, the eve of the Jewish New Year.

Netanyahu has been criticised for his mishandling of the health crisis as well as its economic fallout.

After managing to contain infections in an initial outbreak in the spring, Israel now has one of the world’s worst outbreaks.
