John Leguizamo on the Lack of Latinx Representation in Hollywood

Actor, comedian and activist John Leguizamo joins us live during National Hispanic Heritage Month to put the spotlight on the lack of Latinx representation in Hollywood productions. Latinx shows and actors were shut out of all the major categories in this year’s Emmy Awards nominations.

In an interview with the AP last year, Leguizamo said: “Latinx people, we are 25% of the United States’ movie box office. That’s how much purchasing power we have. And yet we’re less than three percent. I mean, Hollywood needs to change this. It needs to start accepting our stories, because I’ve been pitching Latinx stories for 20 years.”
