Trump Challenges Democrats to Impeach Him for Filling SCOTUS Seat

President Donald Trump is boasting on the campaign trail about his reshaping of the federal judiciary days after the death of liberal Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Trump was holding rallies in Vandalia and Swanton, Ohio, on Monday.

He said the nation was mourning the death of the 87-year-old Ginsburg and he pointed out it will be the third appointment to the Supreme Court during his term.

“Some presidents never get any – they last a long time,” Trump said, “we’ve had three. It’s blowing their minds.”

Trump says he’s considering five women for the lifetime appointment to the nation’s highest court.

He said he plans to announce his decision by Saturday.

Trump appointed Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

Trump got to appoint Gorsuch in 2017 after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell refused in 2016 to hold a hearing on President Barack Obama’s nominee to replace Antonin Scalia, saying it was an election year.

Scalia died 237 days before the 2016 election.

Ginsburg died 46 days before the 2020 election.
