Seattle Police Investigating Officer Riding Bicycle Over Protester’s Head

Seattle Police say they’re investigating an incident involving an officer on a bicycle during protest activity Wednesday night following a Kentucky grand jury’s decision to not indict officers in the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor.

In a statement, the police said they were aware of a video circulating on social media that “apparently shows an SPD bike officer’s bike rolling over the head of an individual laying in the street,” the department said. “This matter will be referred to the Office of Professional Accountability for further investigation.”

Outrage over a grand jury’s failure to bring homicide charges against the officers who burst into the Black woman’s Louisville apartment six months ago set off a new round of demonstrations Wednesday in several American cities.

Police arrested 13 people in Seattle as authorities said people smashed windows and spray painted buildings as protesters marched through parts of the city. Police said multiple officers were injured and one was struck in the head with a baseball bat, cracking his helmet.

Local TV station KOMO reports people were arrested on charges including resisting arrest, property destruction and refusing to disperse.
