California Firefighters Use Flamethrowers to Fight Bobcat Fire Amid Evacuation Orders

California firefighters used flamethrowers in the San Gabriel Mountains to back-burn terrain in the path of the Bobcat Fire on September 24.

The LA County Fire Department said the fire had spread across nearly 114,000 acres and was 55 percent contained on September 25. More than 1,500 personnel were involved in the effort to fight the fire.

A number of evacuation orders remained in place for residences north of Angeles National Forest, fire officials said.

This footage shows firefighters scorching the ground to prevent the fire’s spread. The caption accompanying the video on Twitter read, “Ventura County Scorch Team 6 painting it black.”
