Reporter to McEnany: Does Trump Expect Barrett to Overturn Roe v. Wade?

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany clashed with a reporter Thursday over President Donald Trump’s claims that a number of mail-in ballots were recently found in a river.

Questioned at the White House briefing about who found the ballots and in which river they were discovered, McEnany said the president was referring to reports that a bag of mail in Wisconsin, which included some absentee ballots, was found discarded in a ditch.

When the reporter returned to ask if the president misspoke about a river, McEnany responded that he “was missing the forest for the trees here.”

“There are problems with mass mail in voting. I actually don’t understand the lack of journalistic curiosity and reporting on this,” she said.

The press secretary was also asked whether President Trump expects his Supreme Court nominee, Amy Coney Barrett, to overturn the landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision legalizing abortion.

Trump has repeatedly said he would only nominate a justice who would do so.

McEnany insists the president “has been clear that he would never ask a judge to prejudge a case.”

Barrett’s nomination could become a reckoning over an issue that has divided many Americans so bitterly for almost half a century. The idea of overturning or gutting Roe v. Wade has animated activists in both parties for decades.
